About Me

Dr. Varsha Jain was born and nurtured, in Sonipat, Haryana. She began her basic education at Methodist High School in Sonipat, Haryana, and completed her senior secondary education there in 2010 from the Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani. Being an intelligent student who is passionate about extracurricular activities. In 2010, she received the Rajya Puraskar from the esteemed former governor of Haryana, Shri Jagannath Pahadia (The Bharat Scouts and Guides). She later had the honor of being awarded the title of "Rashtrapati Guide" by India's first female president, Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, for her active engagement in various camps and other events. She was awarded the DST-INSPIRE Scholarship (2010-2015) under the SHE program for her outstanding academic performance during both the UG and PG programs. 2013 witnessed her graduate with a B.Sc. in Life Sciences from Hindu Girls College in Sonipat, which is a part of the M.D.U. in Rohtak, Haryana. W here she earned her eighth academic rank on the University Merit list. She participated and received awards in the Sanskrit declamation competition at Youth Festivals, as well as in science quiz competitions at the Zonal and District levels and inter-District levels. She then pursued an organic chemistry specialization during her Master's degree in chemistry. She obtained her M.Sc. in 2015 and qualified for GATE 2015. Then, in December 2015, she enrolled as a PhD student at IISER Mohali, Punjab. There, she had the chance to work on the synthesis and characterization of bent-core liquid crystals as well as LC biosensors in Dr Santanu Kumar Pal's research group. In May 2016, she received the INSPIRE-JRF Award Letter and the PhD research fellowship from MHRD. She participated in several national and international conferences while pursuing her doctorate, where she gave oral and poster presentations of her findings. She joined the National Liquid Crystal Society in 2015, the Indian Biophysical Society in 2016, and the Chemical Research Society of India in 2022 as a life member. She won the best poster and best flash presentation prizes at NCLC and RTCS-OBC as a result of her outstanding research effort. Thus far, she has authored or co-authored five publications in reputed international peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, her work was featured in the LC art gallery at the ILCC and was showcased on the journal cover page for the year 2022, and she was awarded a doctorate in Chemical Sciences in March 2023.
